Faculty Fellows
Institute of World Languages Faculty Fellowships
2025-2026 Call for Proposals
Duration: summer 2025-spring 2026
Award Amount: $5000
Proposal deadline: April 4, 2025
Purpose
In keeping with the mission of the Institute of World Languages to strengthen research and develop initiatives in world language literacy at UVA, the IWL welcomes proposals for yearlong Institute Fellowships to develop pedagogical, research, or community projects that will broaden and deepen language learning at UVA and benefit the language community.
The IWL believes that language is inseparable from literary and cultural study, integral to other disciplines, and inherently interdisciplinary. We welcome projects in particular that will expand the scope of language study into other disciplines and promote awareness of how languages intersect with other fields through research and teaching. We invite all projects but will prioritize projects that incorporate cross-disciplinary exploration.
Eligibility
All full-time faculty with a continuing contract of any rank, including lecturer and general faculty, who are engaged in the teaching of any world language at UVA, are welcome to apply for this grant. Part-time faculty members are not eligible to apply.
