The Institute of World Languages is pleased to announce that eight language programs at the University of Virginia have been awarded Language Program Small Grants! The goal of these grants is to support the enhancement and development of language programs in different aspects of the language programs’ needs. Following are the initiatives in the eight awarded language programs:
Chinese Language Program and Arabic Language Program won a grant for their tutorial language program
French Language Program won a grant to create and advance the use of audio-visual resources in their elementary and intermediate French courses.
Japanese Language Program won a grant to help improve the current Japanese Language Assessment Tests.
Latin Language Program won a program grant to enhance material development for Intermediate Latin
The Center of American English Language and Culture won a grant to sponsor an English Conversation Hour to enhance the experience for English Language Learners.
Italian Studies Program won a grant to support the event Dolcissimo! [Speak the Sweet Life] an innovative experience in second-language acquisition through cooking.
The American Sign Language Program has won a grant to help with the process of creating timely, relevant, and high quality video modules for our Language Labs.
