Title: DEI in the French Language Program: Perspectives on Work in Progress


What does/should DEI look like in a world language program, and in French in particular? In 2023-2024, after defining DEI goals for the language program in French with input from faculty, TAs, and students, we began the work of addressing our goals in the areas of curricular materials, inclusive language in French, teaching practices, and assessment methods. This presentation will share insights from work accomplished thus far at the intermediate level (including lessons learned and challenges encountered) and will outline our current efforts in the ongoing project. The session will allow time for discussion and sharing of perspectives on DEI goals, materials, and methods from colleagues’ experiences in other language programs.
