The Institute of World Languages has newly established the scholarship to support undergraduate students who have demonstrated a sincere devotion to their language education, as well as a deeper interest in, and commitment to the learning of any world language taught at UVa.
Twelve undergraduate students were awarded study abroad awards this year, three for the fall semester and nine for the summer semester.

We also had one student awarded the Undergraduate Research Abroad Award this year.
The Institute of World Languages has newly established the award to support undergraduate students who have demonstrated exceptional abilities in the acquisition of any world language and culture, as well as great scholarly promise for carrying out a research project abroad.
Lara Abila (MESALC) won the IWL Undergraduate Research Abroad Scholarship! Her plans to travel to Tel-Aviv are currently pending University authorization due to a State Department Travel Warning to the area.
